SKILLS
ADVANCED
CSS / HTML / HTML5
Mad skills. I am very competent with HTML/CSS. My code is just plain clean. Well formatted, indented, grouped and commented HTML complimented with structured and commented CSS is what I do.
- CSS2 Ninja
- CSS3 Guru
- HTML/XHTML God
- HTML5 Explorer
In addition my HTML/CSS is fully cross browser friendly often with no hacks (if hacks are needed they are W3C compliant). IE6 to IE9, FF, Safari, Chrome and Opera -- bring it. I used W3C Strict validation to check my HTML/CSS and ensure it is as compliant as possible. I am, however, not a W3C validation stickler as I believe it is acceptable to use CSS that is not valid when modern browsers support the property.
INTERMIDIATE
PHP / MySQL
I am becoming more versed in programming as I further my development career; PHP was the first I learned and desire to continue to growing this knowledge. I am experienced in working with variables, functions, arrays, classes and querying/retrieving data from databases with SQL.
In working with open source tools such as Magento and CakePHP I have gained experience working with the MVC structure.
INTERMIDIATE
JAVASCRIPT / jQuery / AJAX
Similar to PHP, in Javascript am familiar with variables, functions, arrays and building programs to allow users to select, choose and submit data (in conjunction with PHP) to databases.
I often use jQuery with a bit of AJAX on the front end to provide interactivity, animation, and basic programs.
Open Source Familiarity
In every project I have deployed it has been developed on one of several open source platforms:
Software
ADVANCED
Coda
My editor of choice is Coda. I hand write all of my HTML/CSS, Javascript, jQuery, PHP and SQL queries. Bring it on.
ADVANCED
Photoshop CS5
Mmmmmm....Photoshop. With a background in art and design, as well as continually doing design work, I am very proficient in Photoshop.
ADVANCED
FTP
Well, this is an easy one but something that certainly should be acknowledge for any person working on the web. FTP is no problem for me.
INTERMEDIATE
PHPMyAdmin / Sequel Pro
A fundamental understanding of databases and the tools to manage them is apart of the knowledge required to do what I do. PHPMyADmin and Sequel Pro are my preferred tools of choice. I mean, who really wants to manage a database from terminal anyway ;)
INTERMEDIATE
Illustrator CS5
With a background in design creating vector shapes and graphics in Illustrator is no biggie.
INTERMEDIATE
Terminal
Not being a total geek means that I use terminal when most efficient -- not just to be cool. Tasks such as site wide permissions or taring up and moving a site are go to terminal chops for me.
INTERMEDIATE
Flash CS5
To be honest I considered leaving Flash out of here; while I am competent with it I simply do not enjoy working in Flash. Bonus points for honesty??
INTERMEDIATE
Versions (SVN)
In most cases I use FTP when working on a site but have had a few projects where SVN was required -- my tool of choice here is Version.
EMPLOYMENT
Employment History
Part of what makes my career experience unique is the vast range of positions I have had. From in-house to firms and freelance -- I know how to handle any task from design, development, client relations, project mangement, billing; you name it I have done it. That means as a developer I can make decisions with a full perspective on the outcome from all sides of a project.

EDUCATION
2004 - 2007University of Colorado At Denver
At USD I studied conceptual fine art and received my degree in Fine Art with a emphasis in Photography. I still work with art on the side and my work can be viewed at the/studio. During my time there I took numerous multi-media classes in design and typography. I considered a double major in multimedia but felt that I had already learned more about design than the classes were teaching though my experiences in the design industry.
Bachelors Degree - Fine Art
2001 - 2004Metro State
At Metro State College I got my core classes and partying out of the way. 'Nuff said.
Honorable Mentions - Snowboarding Behind Cars
